I think this article would be more meaningful if it did not mix any valid app’s use of data and sensors with “tracking”. Tracking for most people is collection of data by Google or other company services.
Does the mentioned Camera App’s use of microphone permissions, obviously to be able to record video with sound, constitute tracking, if the said video or any recorded audio never leaves the phone and never reaches any of Google servers? For me this has nothing to do with tracking.
But mixing up tracking, which is a real problem, with local use of sensor is misleading and buries the real problem under heap of false alarms.
